The EYC Annual Spring Convention
at Blackstone
is an annual meeting of the Diocese of Southern Virginia youth for a weekend of fun and fellowship, along with the election of officers for the next year’s Diocesan EYC Board. Delegates, chosen by each parish, vote on the Board.
Similar to the format of October Weekend, Blackstone revolves around large and small group activities, helping to show those in attendance the true meaning of "Sharing God's Love."  Blackstone is based around the topic of Holy Week, and is held each year on Palm Sunday Weekend

Blackstone also holds twice as many surprises as October Weekend.  Each year at Blackstone the officers for the Diocesan EYC Board are chosen.  These are the six people who represent the EYC throughout the diocese, and who plan the retreats for the following year.  To learn more about the board, please visit the Board section of this site.  Anyone may run for office, though it is recommended that you previously attend a retreat, and also previously attend a Youth Leadership Training Event, if possible.  Those running will be required to give a speech to the entire community (so bring nice clothes if you plan to run!) about why they should be elected.  Additionally, applications for Aides to the Board are taken at Blackstone.  These are the people who make up the rest of the Board, but who aren't elected and are instead chosen by the Board a few weeks following the EYC Spring Convention at Blackstone.
As the weekend's theme is wrapping up, everyone in the EYC is invited to let down their hair (or put it up) and participate in the EYC Talent Show.  Anyone and everyone is invited to perform in the Sunday morning showcase of singing, dancing, comedy, tragedy, and just about anything imaginable!  Hopefully Ms. Goodbody will be making another appearance - if you don't know who she is just yet, come and find out!

One of the many things we pride ourselves with at our EYC retreats is the joyful noise we always make (some are noisier than others).  This time we are welcoming back Ben Blanchard to help lead the Song Fests throughout the weekend.  But he's not the only trick up our sleeve!  We'd love for you to join us this year with the music team.  If you play guitar, bass, drums, tambourine, or sing, we need your help so that the music this year will be like no one's ever seen - or heard!
