October Weekend is an annual meeting of the Diocese of Southern Virginia youth for a weekend of fun and fellowship in the great outdoors, sharing in God's love while experiencing the beauty of nature.
	Similar to the format of Blackstone, October Weekend revolves around large and small group activities, helping to show those in attendance the true meaning of "Sharing God's Love." Each year there is a different them for October Weekend, all based on how God can be seen through even the smallest of items.
There are many great reasons to attend October Weekend, especially if this is your first experience with an EYC retreat. Because this our first retreat of the year, there are a lot of new faces roaming throughout the community. Also, Chanco on the James helps us to have a very relaxed atmosphere, while still helping us to reveal God's presence in the world. If you would like to lead a small group, it is recommended that you previously attend a retreat, and attend the fall small group training session, the Youth Leadership Training Event.
